Handel Lighting

Handel lighting is highly collectable with many pieces capturing record sales at auction.  After a brief partnership with Adolph Eydam in 1885 Philip Handel founded the Handel Lamp Company in Meriden, CT.  The company is noted for its reverse painted lamp shades but produced a wide range of lamp bases, overlay lamp shades, leaded glass shades and painted glassware just to name a few products.  During the time when one would call their golden years Handel enjoyed a prosperous showroom in New York and sold their products to the upper class consumer.  The interesting thing with the Handel shades and their bases is that they are always interchangeable allowing one to choose the base that suits your viewing pleasure.  Although we owned, collected and sold hundreds of items made by Handel we enjoy the overlay lamp shades the best and normally offer an interesting selection.  If you are looking for a specific style or design give us a call.
